VSP Global is committed to providing professional opportunities for Doctors of Optometry. That’s why we’re connecting you to Premier Program providers recruiting for openings at their private practices.

There is one full-time or two part-time Doctor of Optometry opportunities available at Monte Vista Optometry located in Turlock, California.

Why you should apply

This successful, well-established Optometry practice is growing, and long-term opportunity is on the horizon for the right Doctors of Optometry. If you’re looking to ditch the traffic jams, join a growing practice in a family-oriented community, and explore specialized services for ocular diseases or a future partnership opportunity, this is your chance to live and practice in one of the last affordable regions in California!

Located in the heart of California’s Central Valley, Turlock is the second largest city in Stanislaus County and is best known for its agricultural production. Home to California State University Stanislaus, Turlock provides its residents a unique opportunity for relaxed and convenient living with the amenities of big city life nearby. Its proximity to some of California's most visited destinations—San Francisco, Sacramento, Monterey, Napa, and Santa Cruz, to name a few—make it an ideal location to practice.

About the practice

This practice was first established in the 1950s and found its current location in 1996. Owned by Dr. Trevor Irish since 2010, this practice provides full service optometry services to Stanislaus County residents of all ages in a convenient and central area of Turlock. With space to build a vision therapy workshop or other specialty clinic in the near future, this practice is looking to grow its team of three providers and 12 staff members.

As a long-standing business in the community, this practice focuses heavily on the patient experience. The office is warm, comfortable, and welcoming, inviting patients to shop top-brand eyewear in a casual setting. The practice is well-appointed with automated optical equipment and behind-the-scenes functional technology that allows patients to receive the best-quality eye care. Appointment scheduling and office communications are offered via mobile app and email; while standard communication methods are available for less tech-savvy patients.

About the opening

The practice is seeking one full-time or two part-time Doctors of Optometry to provide high-quality care for patients of all ages, insurances, and visual/medical diagnoses. ODs interested in binocular vision, traumatic brain injury, or vision therapy would make great complements to the current emphasis of ocular disease clinics and contact lenses. Partnership options may be available for the right candidate(s) after two years of employment and mutually agreed terms. The current office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with extended hours on Tuesdays until 6:30 p.m. Seven days per month, doctors are expected to provide emergency on-call coverage.

To be successful in this role, you must show demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as compassion for patient health and safety. The ideal candidate will be ambitious, responsible, service-oriented, community-involved, and willing to integrate new techniques and innovations that improve patient care and services. Additionally, the minimum qualifications include:

  • Doctor of Optometry license in the state of California
  • NBEO certification (prefer residency trained, but not required)
  • Glaucoma certification preferred if graduated before 2007

As a full-time employee of the practice, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits in addition to your salary, including:

  • Production-based bonuses with several ways to structure them
  • Paid time off
  • Health insurance options
  • Reimbursement for philanthropic activities and other professional development opportunities
  • 401(k) options with employer contribution and profit sharing plan after one year of employment
  • Annual Continuing Education reimbursement
  • Annual holiday parties and quarterly staff outings
