About the practice

Westside Family Vision Center first opened in 1986 by Dr. Larry Fabian and Dr. Jeffrey Fanelli. For over 30 years, this practice has provided full-service optometry to families and residents in Santa Clara County. This practice focuses on personalized, preventative vision care, and specializes in specialty contact lenses, co-managing laser vision correction procedures, and developmental optometry. Centrally located in San Jose, this practice offers convenient access to I-280, CA-17, CA-87, and the Almaden Expressway. With an additional practice nearby in Saratoga, Dr. Fabian and Dr. Fanelli are looking to grow their current practice staff of four providers and 20 staff members.


This long-standing business maintains a family-oriented approach to eye and vision care and, uses state-of-the-art technology to diagnose and treat a wide array of eye diseases. The practice is well-appointed with automated optical equipment and behind-the-scenes functional technology that includes digital retinal imaging, high-definition OCT, anterior ocular imaging, spectral microscope, neurolens® screener, and genetic testing. Using electronic records enables providers to compare current and past health conditions and create a solid baseline for the early detection of changes in patients’ eye health. Online appointment scheduling and office communications are offered via text messaging—patients enjoy a family-friendly shopping experience as they browse a wide selection of optical frames and sunglasses from the optical boutique.


About the opening

The practice is seeking one part-time Doctor of Optometry who is passionate about providing outstanding patient care. In this role, you’ll perform eye exams for vision and ocular health for patients of all ages, insurances, and visual/medical diagnoses. The current office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturdays. The OD will work one to two days per week and will be expected to cover Saturdays on an as-needed basis, and potentially provide care at Saratoga Vision Center. Compensation and benefits will be determined by work experience and qualifications.


To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as compassion for patient health and safety. The ideal candidate will be ambitious, responsible, service-oriented, community-involved, and willing to integrate new techniques and innovations that improve patient care and services.


Minimum qualifications include:

  • Doctor of Optometry license in the state of California
