About Freestone Optometric Center


This well-established optometry practice has provided full-service optometry to families and residents in San Bernardino County for over 65 years. Purchased in 1990 by Gary M. Freestone, O.D., the practice specializes in dry eye, foreign body removal, ocular diseases and specialty contact lens. Conveniently located on North Riverside Avenue in a free-standing medical building, this ideal practice location offers convenient access to CA-66, CA-210 and public transportation. Over the years, Freestone Optometric Center has grown to include three providers and 11 cross-trained employees, and is looking to add a fourth provider to help contribute to the expansion of its patient base. 


Committed to helping patients gain the best vision through optimal eye health, this practice uses state-of-the-art vision care technology to diagnose and treat a wide array of eye diseases. The practice is well-appointed with automated optical equipment and behind-the-scenes functional technology specializing in pressure testing, keratometry visual field testing and digital retinal imaging. Patients enjoy a family-friendly shopping experience as they browse a wide selection of optical frames and sunglasses from the optical boutique for all budgets—plus personalized customer support from the opticians, ensuring patients find the proper fit for comfort and the newest styles for fashion.

 

About the opening


The practice is seeking one part-time or full-time Associate Optometrist who is passionate about providing personalized and individualized care to ensure excellent eye health and vision care for all patients. As Associate Optometrist, you will perform comprehensive vision and contact lens exams; prescribe a wide variety of eyewear; evaluate and treat dry eye; perform diabetic evaluations; and provide primary eye care and medical eye treatments. A candidate who is certified in treating glaucoma would be a complimentary addition to the practice. 


The current office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday. The Associate Optometrist will be required to provide care on one Saturday per month. This is an excellent opportunity to see a variety of patients and conditions, while learning new techniques to grow professionally.  


To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as compassion for patient health and safety. The ideal candidate will want to continuously develop his/her skills through mentorship with experienced doctors, and willing to integrate new techniques and innovations that improve patient care and services.


Minimum qualifications include:
•    Optometry license in the state of California

 

Preferred skills: 
•    Dry eye plugs
•    Glaucoma certification
•    Specialty contact lens fittings
