General Summary

The VP of Global Business Development is responsible for growing and retaining Premier Private Practice locations. Develops and executes the Premier sales strategy; leading the Global Business Development team and working closely with both the Premier Program team and with other cross-functional leadership. 

Essential Functions

Responsible for all results of the Global Business Development Manager team as well as strengthening the business relationships between all VSP Global’ s lines of business (LOBs) and key Eyecare Providers, Optical Alliances, Franchise Groups, and Buying Groups 

 

Develops the Premier sales strategies necessary to drive profitable cross LOB growth; translates strategies into clearly-defined tactical sales plans and objectives; ensures that sales strategies/plans are consistent with the long-range strategic objectives of VSP Global and its LOBs 

 

Increases the knowledge base and skill-set of the Global Business Development team to provide consulting services to Premier Private Practices

 

Considers and helps advance customer relationships with LOBs; communicates potential business opportunities and service challenges that clients share

 

Recommends and develops company positioning, messaging, and negotiation strategies that promote the growth of VSP Global highest-priority initiatives, as well as drive increased sales of VSP Global LOB products and services

 

Negotiates, in collaboration with VSP Global LOBs, the highest profile agreements with the largest Eye care provider accounts and optical organizations

 

Leverages Global Business Development to create and implement growth strategies; participates in the development of updated sales and financial forecasts through dialogue with key sales leaders


Develops and communicates specialized knowledge gained during direct operational experience, external negotiations, and through market intelligence 


Works closely with VSP’s Provider Relations team, partnering to develop sales communication strategies and messaging that focuses on mutual benefit, growth, and innovation to eye care providers and VSP Global
 

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

 

Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience

 

Minimum of 15 years of management experience with responsibilities for hiring, training, assigning work and managing performance of direct reports

 

Extensive experience successfully leading sales teams including direct sales with providers or organizations within a range of market segments; local, regional, and national levels

 

Demonstrated success in developing sales teams by setting the vision and goals, sharing expert knowledge, and motivating achievement

 

Skilled negotiator and influencer who can navigate and tailor approach to the unique corporate culture of the organization and their individual business leaders

 

Experience developing sales and marketing strategies, translating complex concepts into clear communications, and ability to lead and drive change management

 

Ability to power organizational change by applying skills in business leadership, innovation, and complex analysis


  
Ability to travel up to 30% 

 

Skilled in the Salesforce CRM and how to apply it to lead sales teams and share information by communicating across LOBs

 

Proven ability to work in cross-functional environment and balance independent work with building consensus among diverse internal and external groups

 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong mathematical skills, applied to successfully negotiate
