General Summary

Leads multiple teams and activities related to the marketing and communications strategy and execution for VSP Vision Care.  Includes Business to Business, Business to Consumer, and Direct to Consumer environments.

Essential Functions


Responsible for competitive landscape, market differentiation, and go-to-market strategies for VSP Vision Care


Leads teams that are responsible for the strategic marketing plans for five business units and eight countries for B2B (broker/client), B2C (VSP member) and D2C (direct to consumer) audiences

Responsible for driving membership / enrollment for over 60,000 clients

Agency management / media planning

Key stakeholder in data integration and technology enablement to drive marketing effectiveness

Plan, direct and executes the marketing of VSP’s products and services in concert with financial objectives.


Develop and implement programs to increase awareness and preference for the VSP Vision Care brand and manage brand messages

Develop innovative client and broker marketing programs to grow and retain VSP Vision Care business.

Lead the development of innovative, high-value, competitive consumer and client products.


Work with business partners to jointly develop initiatives to increase member, provider and client satisfaction.

Manages the attraction, retention and development of a high-performance workforce and develops top leadership through selection, coaching and reinforcement.

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or business or related field or equivalent experience


Fifteen years of experience in marketing management with at least ten years high-level marketing experience in several functional areas, including product development, preferably in a corporate environment


Ability to successfully develop brand and product specific marketing strategies, drive consumer messaging insights for products/brand to target and influence customers


Ability to develop and execute marketing/media plans, including experience developing comprehensive on-line strategies


Experience in managing multiple segments, brands and products on a local and national scale


Experience using customer insights to develop financially viable market/products


Experience with modern marketing technologies / CRMs / web platforms


Strong, proven leadership skills, managing direct and indirect cross functional teams; ability to motivate and drive results across a large indirect sphere of influence
