(VOIP) Network Engineer, VSP Vision Care

General Summary

With minimal supervision, ensure best performance of data communication network. Contribute to design and build data communication networks, including LAN and/or WAN. 

 

Essential Functions

Design, the network infrastructure for all VSP Global locations, including but not limited to: LAN, WAN, routing protocols, VRF, MPLS, QOS, firewall policies, etc.  Designs should include layout and requirements and  take current and future strategy for technology and business into consideration

 

Ensure information security for all network designs, plans and/or modifications

 

Generate network modeling, and conduct network analysis for optimal network outcomes; provide recommendations to increase performance, decrease costs, and ultimately optimize networks

 

Construct/maintain physical network components/structures; determine need for new components or replacement

 

Troubleshoot, resolve issues, undergo root cause analysis, and provide solutions for complex problems (ex. Configuration or routing issues, software bugs or hardware failures etc.)

 

Create necessary network documentation, including layouts and/or procedures

 

Identify risks to data communication networks, and mitigate the identified risk(s)

 

Remain current on new technologies; introduce applicable technology in alignment with VSP goals and for creative solutions

 

Guide change with a focus on optimal outcomes

 

Provides mentoring and direction to Network Administrators and Operators

 

Job Specifications

 

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience

 

Five years of related experience, preferably in network design and analysis

 

Prefer CCNA, and/or CCDP certification

 

Hands-on experience within a Cisco environment

 

Demonstrated ability to master the concepts and skills needed

 

Excellent analytical and problem - solving skills for moderate problems

 

Excellent organization and time management skills

 

Meet/exceed organizations best practices, expectations, and standards

 

Identify and mitigate risk(s)

 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Demonstrated ability to guide others in regards to team self-management

 

Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

The working environment is generally favorable lighting and temperature is adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust etc.
