General Summary

Under general supervision, involved in leading the strategic vision, market opportunities, pricing and profitability analysis, marketing activities, and collaborating on sales strategies for a brand, product or service across all media, while collaborating with multi-functional teams and agency partners.

Essential Functions

Serve as a central resource for all brand-related information and coordinate with business partners in creating and deploying brand-building programs.  

 

Educate business partners on brand-related issues and opportunities.

 

Establish short and long term goals, competitive positions and strategies for the market segment.

 

Develop and deploy programs to maximize the distribution channels to market, increase business opportunities, and increase retention of current business in the market segment.

 

Identify segment expectations, behaviors and attitudes and use this understanding to develop initiatives that ensure that the customer’s experience delivers on the VSP brand.

 

Identify segment trends and opportunities to understand the changing marketplace and ensure that the needs and priorities of the segments are consistently taken into consideration in order to keep VSP competitive.

 

Identify strategies, develop plans, and lead initiatives that meet the needs of the market segment.  Set direction for project teams and influence stakeholders to ensure products, services, and marketing programs meet the needs of this segment.

 

Establish goals and set targets to measure the success of programs for the market segment.

 

Work with communication managers, identify and direct what needs to be communicated in the market segment, based on research, competitive positioning and value propositions, and delivered through marketing plans.

 

Partner with business areas to execute and gain adoption of programs in the field and at the account-specific level.

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field or equivalent training, education and experience

 

Five years of experience in product or brand management 

 

Advance understanding of brand management concepts and building/execution techniques

 

Solid working knowledge of MS Office, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel

 

Proven ability to develop and execute marketing strategies 

 

Ability to elevate the perception of our corporate brand and our company

 

Excellent project management skills and experience managing large projects 

 

Proven track record of influencing constituents for optimal results 

 

Excellent organization skills, detail-oriented and ability to multitask

 

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

 

Flexible and able to quickly and effectively change priorities and direction

 

Strong analytical skills required

 

Ability to write and present clear and concise reports  

 

Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties

Preferred Skills

Experience in consumer direct marketing through multi-media channels (i.e. email, direct mail, digital)


Skilled at CRM marketing automation (Salesforce, Eloqua, Marketo, etc.) or transferable skills with aptitude and interest to learn it


Knowledgeable in campaign planning, journey mapping, and A/B testing


Strong problem-solving skills; ability to analyze campaign performance and optimize


Comfortable with data, segments, tracking and reporting

 

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

The working environment is generally favorable.  Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust etc.
