About the practice

Foster Vision first opened in 2010 by Dr. Marielle Kwon. This practice provides full-service optometry to families and residents in Multnomah County of all ages, insurances, and visual/medical diagnoses, and specializes in ocular disease management, co-management of ocular surgeries, and specialty contact lenses. Conveniently located just five miles from downtown Portland, this ideal practice location offers easy access to OR-213, US-26, and I-205. To support the practice’s continued growth, Foster Vision is looking to grow its team of 13 staff members, and potentially expand to a second location. 

This practice focuses on providing exceptional care and high-quality products to patients. The office is warm, comfortable, and welcoming, inviting patients to shop top-brand eyewear in a casual setting. The practice is well-appointed with automated optical equipment and behind-the-scenes functional technology to diagnose and treat a wide array of eye diseases. Patients enjoy a family-friendly shopping experience as they browse a wide selection of optical frames and sunglasses from the optical boutique—plus walk-in patients are always welcome. 

About the opening

The practice is seeking one part-time or full-time Doctor of Optometry Associate who is dedicated to providing the five-star personalized care that Foster Vision’s patients know and expect. In this role, you’ll perform eye exams for vision and ocular health; diagnose and triage eye diseases; and, prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications. The current office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday. The Associate O.D. will be required to provide care on alternating Saturdays, and for the right candidate, a future partnership may be available.

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as compassion for patient health and safety. The ideal candidate will be ambitious, responsible, service-oriented, community-involved, and willing to integrate new techniques and innovations that improve patient care and services.


Minimum qualifications include:

•    Doctor of Optometry license in the state of Oregon
•    New graduates will be considered
