Global Quality & Compliance Specialist - Melville, NY

General Summary

Responsible for managing assigned factories in all aspects of quality and compliance including but not limited to: design, development, production, and end-customer quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance, Regulatory Compliance, and Restricted Substances compliance. 

Essential Functions

Manage the quality of assigned factories using key metrics to determine risk, analyze root cause, and perform quality sort downs 

 

Follow the defined process for all complaints (including SAP case management) and determine the next steps 

 

Request Bill of Materials and technical drawings from vendors and maintain in SharePoint File

 

Partner with internal business partners with quality and technical information requests

 

Responsible for ensuring the proper execution of assigned factory audits by in house and 3rd party auditors. Notify internal and external partners of approval

 

Maintains compliance data and completes reports on Marchon and licensor systems as required

 

Responsible for the execution of required Yearly Documents including the C-TPAT program 

 

Monitors divestment of current factories, including quarantine and destruction process of goods, and ensures factory is closed for new purchase orders on internal system 

 

Ensures assigned factories are compliant with global standards including national and international standards for quality, tests, and procedures as well as additional standards as set forth by each licensor

 

Review assigned factories open PO report on a weekly basis to ensure all product placed is authorized to be produced.

 

Develop strategies to manage the risk proactively, engage management, and initiate actions to execute strategies; including partnering with Legal/Compliance, benchmarking competitors and related industries, and consulting with outside experts as needed for risk assessments

 

Work on special projects as required 

 

Perform all other duties as assigned

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

 

Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field and/or equivalent experience

 

Three to five years of experience in global manufacturing and quality assurance or quality improvement management, preferably within apparel, accessories, and/or optical

 

Knowledge of industry practices and compliance standards

 

Knowledge of Human and Labor Rights in the optical industry as well as issues and trends

 

Demonstrated understanding of quality management concepts and techniques

 

Demonstrated ability to document, propose, negotiate and present approaches and solutions

 

Strong conflict management skills

 

Strong organization skills, detail-oriented, and ability to multitask in a team environment

 

Proven ability to effectively communicate information to a wide variety of technical and non-technical individuals or groups at all levels of the organization 

 

Strong analytical capabilities

 

Flexible and able to quickly and effectively change priorities and direction

 

Travel domestic and international may be required

 

Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment the in performance of his/her job duties

The working environment is generally favorable, lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.  However, there are hazardous materials associated with this job which include toner, padding compound and cleaning solutions.
